Easy Ways to Revamp Your Kitchen

Is your kitchen looking a bit old and tired? A good way to give it a makeover is with a change of tiling, some new paint or a few choice accessories.

Kitchen wall tiles can add a touch of colour and pattern to the room. Use bold colours to brighten up a plain kitchen and try pattern to add interest. You can tile all of the kitchen walls if you like, but if cost is a factor, just use the tiles on the sink splashback and on the wall around your cooking area. Large tiles will cover the area quicker but don’t necessarily look the best. Take time to work out what’s best for you and your kitchen.

Try a few handmade tiles amongst a section of cheaper, mass produced ones to jazz up your wall. If you are the artistic type, why not get some tile paint and try your own design on a few tiles.

How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets and Save Money

If your kitchen is in need of a facelift, but so is your bank account…then why not try something else? Why not paint your cabinets?

If your cabinets are solid enough, and not falling off the wall, then they can be painted. There are so many new and improved products on the market to make this a more enjoyable task. At one time you would have had to sand them right down, and that alone is a huge mess. But not anymore, you can get “de-shiners”, or primers that can go over any surface to make them ready for paint, you don’t have to use strippers any more!

You need to allow yourself some time, such as a weekend. Try taking the cabinets and hardware off during the week, and then reserve the weekend for painting. The best results in painting are obtained, if you put your top color on as soon as the primer is dry, you can’t be waiting days for this, or a dust layer will form, and you will not get a good finish, so allow yourself the time to get all the painting done.
